Listen: Cooler weather may put the squeeze on cottonseed supplies this fall

DairyLine Radio’s Lee Mielke interviews Cotton Incorporated’s Tom Wedegaertner about this year’s scarce cotton crop. Cool weather is predicted to force 40 percent cotton abandonment in the South Plains, according to Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service. Wedegaertner says that reduced acreages and delayed planting across the Cotton Belt, combined with the possibility of an early fall, could result in 900,000 fewer tons of cottonseed produced and higher prices for dairy farmers seeking to feed the feedstuff.
